Pulmonary function tests fail to predict exercise intolerance in sheep with emphysema

Article Abstract:

Efforts are made to examine the ventilatory parameters, gas exchange, and exercise tolerance in sheep undergoing cardiopulmonary exercise testing and pulmonary function testing at baseline and after induction of emphysema using nebulized papain, to improve the understanding of the contributions of parenchymal emphysema with minimal airway disease to exertional dysfunction in mild-to-moderate emphysema.

An isokinetic profile of trunk rotation strength in elite distance runners

Article Abstract:

An isokinetic testing profile of trunk rotation strength in elite tennis players has identified symmetrical trunk rotation strength and muscular endurance pattern in males, and slightly greater trunk rotation strength and endurance in the direction of the backhand in females. Conditioning programs for these players should include exercises to facilitate and develop bilateral trunk rotation.

Voluntary exercise during chronic renal failure in rats

Article Abstract:

A study made to determine whether, and to what extent, rats experiencing the onset of chronic renal failure (CRF) would participate in voluntary wheel running exercise is presented. Further, the physiological parameters related to skeletal muscle and cardiovascular adaptation in the context of CRF and exercise is examined.
