A physiological profile of tennis match play

Article Abstract:

This article investigates the physiological demands associated with completing a game of tennis. Measurements of lactate concentrations, respiratory gas exchange, heart rate, and other physiological variables indicate that energy demands are correlated with the duration of rallies and are significantly higher in matches involving offensive players.

Respiratory gas exchange and lactate measures during competitive orienteering

Article Abstract:

Research indicates that respiratory gas exchange measures provide information on energy expenditure of orienteering competitions as compared with either lactate or heart rate measurements. Furthermore, respiratory gas exchange measures also enable to monitor an athlete's individual running straegies.

The heart rate turn point reliability and methodological aspects

Article Abstract:

Research indicates that protocol variations can affect heart rate turn point and heart rate performance curve. In a series of four treadmill tests that varied acceleration, the turn point was significantly affected in instances of near linear performance curves. This impact was noted primarily in the third and fourth tests of the series.
