Resting metabolic rate and thermogenic effect of glucose in trained and untrained girls age 11-15 years

Article Abstract:

Issues concerning the effect of glucose ingestion on trained and untrained circumpubertal girls are discussed. A test if 12 girls who trained in rowing along with untrained girls suggested that increased physical activity leads to energy conservation at rest in postabsorptive state and a tendency toward enhancement of food-induced thermogenesis.

Selected predictor variables and the lipid-lipoprotein profile of prepubertal girls and boys

Article Abstract:

This study examines the influence of habitual physical activity, cardiorespiratory fitness, percent body fat and dietary habits on the lipid-lipoprotein profiles of children. Results reveal that the above predictor variables affect lipid-lipoprotein profiles and their effect varies with the patients' gender.
