Cruising Europe: a VATful of taxes

Article Abstract:

New regulations for the European single market require pleasure boats from non-European Community countries to pay value added tax if the boat remains in EC waters for more than six months. Means to avoid the tax are discussed.

Autissier clobbers the competition

Isabelle Autissier was 1,200 miles ahead of her closest rival at the end of the first leg of the 1994-95 BOC Challenge. Her skill at interpreting weather information was a major factor in her performance.
