Spotlight on innovations in remediation

Article Abstract:

Hazardous waste management and site remediation is being done using many new techniques, such as treatment walls, electrokinetics and phytoremediation. A study shows that solidification and soil-vapor extraction are the most widely used methods. Removal of metals and dense, non-aqueous-phase liquids is very difficult. Phytoremediation uses plants to treat contaminated ground water. Extensive research is going on in the use of in situ bioremediation.

Scapular stabilizer activity during Bodyblade, cuff weights, and Thera-Band use

Article Abstract:

Several repeated measures analysis of surface electromyography (EMG) data collected from different places are used to observe and analyze the use of various traditional training devices, like the Bodyblade, cuff weights and Thera-Band resistance on the scapular stabilizer activity of a person. The analysis shows that the normalized root mean square of EMG of upper and lower trapezius is much greater than that on using the devices.
