The editors of Cruising World competed with those of WoodenBoat in a friendly race during a break in the WoodenBoat Show held in Newport, Rhode Island on July 23, 2004. The Cruising World gang aboard the fine-looking sandbagger eBearE followed the WoodenBoat team aboard the beautiful sandbagger eBullE.

Article Abstract:

A story about centennial Transpac ocean racers from Los Angeles to Honolulu who set out on their boat Cal 40 Dancing Bear (DB) is narrated. Racers were thrown off the tiller couple of times and suffered massive wrap but DB was game for anything and always managed to shake it off and stay on her feet.
