Shoreline: The spice lives

Article Abstract:

Hurricane Ivan brought a widespread destruction to the people of Grenada but in fact it did them a favor when the statistics revealed that the cruising communities contributed nearly half of the country's annual gross tourism receipts. The island's two biggest boatyards Spice Island Marine and Grenada Marine expanded haulout and storage facilities and cruisers started taking their boats to Grenada for haulout and refit instead of sailing the extra miles to Trinidad.

Sinning & grinning through French Polynesia

Article Abstract:

Entry into the narrow pass on the south side of Maupiti, one of the more remote jewels of the Society Islands in French Polynesia, made for attentive passagemaking on the part of flotilla charterers. After a night of feasting and dancing on the motu, repentant sailors dinghy into weekly Sunday morning services at the island's church, upstaged in song and attire by the congregation members.
