The five best ski areas that are relatively unknown are described. The best unknown ski area is Solitude in Utah, which will probably become more popular after the 2002 Olympics. The other top resorts are Wolf Creek, Sugar Bowl, Ski Apache, and Crystal Mountain.

Taos Ski Valley is relatively unknown among recreational skiers but the resort offers some of the best skiing in the country. In addition, the resort has one of the top skiing schools staffed by expert teachers.
