Inspiratory muscle training improves rowing performance

Article Abstract:

This article examines the effects of eleven weeks of inspiratory muscle training on the athletic performance of competitive female rowers. Findings indicate that training resulted in increased strength in the inspiratory muscles and significantly enhanced rowing performance in short and long distance trials.

Specific respiratory warm-up improves rowing performance and exertional dyspnea

Article Abstract:

This article examines the effects of a respiratory warm-up on subsequent athletic performance and exercise-induced dyspnea in trained rowers. Findings indicate that incorporating the use of an inspiratory muscle training device into a standard warm-up routine resulted in improved rowing performance and reductions in shortness of breath.
