Summ'ear-time tip: hair dryers may prevent swimmers' ear

Article Abstract:

Physician Wendall Todd believes that using a blow-dryer to dry children's ears after swimming may help prevent swimmers' ear, an inflammation of the external ear canal. Warm air applied about an arm's length from the child's ear can dry the trapped moisture that causes swimmers ear.

Passenger-side airbags can kill infants and children riding in the front seat of a car. The devices deploy at 200 miles per hour or more even in very low-speed accidents. It is recommended that children under 12 ride in the backseat.
