The lake Michigan tragedy resulted from the Coho fishermen's blatant disregard for small-craft warnings, lack of use of lifesaving devices, lack of response to warnings asking them to return to shore and use of crafts unsuitable for open water. An eyewitness who was only thirteen then, recounts the horror story and the numerous nightmares he had after the incident.
