The effects of a cognitive intervention strategy on competitive state anxiety and performance in semiprofessional soccer players

Article Abstract:

Cognitive interventions on the competitive state anxiety and performance of semiprofessional soccer players effectively alleviate the level of state anxiety. Responses of players to the various inventories suggest that the inverse relationship between state anxiety and self confidence intensity, facilitates subsequent performance. Matching the mode of anxiety response to the relaxation strategies may be more effective than stress management techniques.
