The physical activity recall assessment for people with spinal cord injury: Validity

Article Abstract:

A study examined the construct validity of the physical activity recall assessment for people with spinal cord injury (PARA-SCI), a measure of physical activity for individuals with spinal cord injury (SCI) who use a wheelchair as their primary mode of mobility. The convergent validity study provided evidence of validity for PARA-SCI leisure time physical activity and cumulative activity categories and results also highlight measurement constraints of the lifestyle activity and cumulative activity categories.

Weight training to activities of daily living: Helping older adults make a connection

Article Abstract:

An investigation aims to determine whether an innovative educational intervention coupled with resistance training can help older adults make the link between weight training (WT) and performance of activities of daily living (ADL) as compared to WT alone. It is found that a targeted educational intervention can help older adults generalize the benefits and confidence obtained through WT to their performance of ADL.

Development and evaluation of an activity measure for people with spinal cord injury

Article Abstract:

A study is conducted to develop and conduct a preliminary assessment of the content validity, test-retest reliability, and convergent validity of the Physical Activity Recall Assessment for People with Spinal Cord Injury (PARA-SCI). It is concluded that the PARA-SCI was found to be effective as a measure of physical activity for people with SCI.
