Jorgen Strandberg retains sympathy for sailors who feel the need to turn off the bridge navigation watch alarm systems (BNWAS) because these were a major stress factor whenever they went off. Strandberg also argues that crews who work on a 6 on/ 6 off shift pattern will mean that the crew will eventually suffer from fatigue after a few days so a 4 on/ 8 off shift pattern is better.
