Challenger enters 400-mm bore arena

Article Abstract:

Stork-Wartsila Diesel (SWD) has launched its latest medium speed engine design which reduces NOx emissions by 50-70% but does not affect fuel consumption. The company has reduced the overal dimensions of the SW38, but claims that it can still compete with low speed engines. The design of the cylinder liner and piston was the result of collaboration between SWD and the rest of the Wartsila Diesel Group.
