Cruise liner created from container ship

Article Abstract:

The conversion of the former container ship Annie Johnson into the 28 430 gt passenger cruise liner Costa Allegra is described. The ship conversion work was conducted by the Genoa, Italy-based T. Mariotti for Costa Crociere, also of Italy. The process required the lengthening of the formerly Swedish-owned 744 TEU boxship's hull and replacement of the main machinery. The Annie Johnson was built in 1969.
