Double hulls are not the panacea

Continuous improvement in quality and safety is very important for the maritime sector hence ships are designed by highly sophisticated computational tools and are built according to stringent industry production standards. This has led to ships built with less steel weight and have also reduced the shipbuilding costs to the lowest possible price together with evolution from single to double hull tankers reducing grab damages on side shell.
