Factors that drivers say motivate safe driving practices

Article Abstract:

Factors that compel individuals to drive safely and their perception of their driving behavior were analyzed. Results show that subjects considered themselves above average safe drivers. Negative consequences of reckless driving, such as probable car crash and increased insurance liability, were cited as factors that compel subjects to drive safely. This finding indicates that increased awareness of such negative consequences would lead to safe driving practices.
