Gender differences and areas of common concern in the driving behaviors and attitudes of adolescents

Article Abstract:

A comparative study of New Zealand adolescent males and females reveals males to be more interested in driving than females. Findings show that males break the night curfew and engage in unsafe driving behaviors, such as drinking while driving and speeding on open roads. In cases of late night driving, females were more often the passengers of drunken drivers. Both groups show evidences of unlicensed driving, breaking traffic rules, and failing to wear seat belts. Educational programs and media campaigns need to target both groups in areas of common concern.

The impact of drunk driving legislation in Louisiana

Article Abstract:

The deterrence-oriented driving legislation in Louisiana has reduced accident casualties. Surveys show a significant drop in nighttime fatalities which is obviously due to the implementation of the legislation. A smaller decline in daytime fatal accidents also occurred after its implementation.
