Identifying controlled evaluation studies of road safety intervention: searching for needles in a haystack

Article Abstract:

The authors describe efforts to develop a search strategy of positive predictive value in databases for controlled evaluation studies of interventions in road safety. Acceptable sensitivity and predictive values were not developed, yet this research remains an urgent issue since approximately 1 mil people worldwide die in traffic crashes yearly.

The use of parking and auxiliary lamps for traffic sign illumination

Article Abstract:

This article examines the effectiveness of visually/optically aimable headlamps in replace of conventional U.S. lamps. The authors, focusing on sign visibility, conclude headlamps are too weak and a lamp mounted on the roof just above the driver would be more effective in terms of retroreflective geometry.
