IMO and International Lifesaving Appliance Manufacturer's got together to make safety regulations and provide solutions to improve the existing equipment. Self righting, fire proof body, double skinned canopy are some of the latest improvements.

There have been fear of suit shortage with this requirement, but the industry seemed to have delivered the needs to shipowners.
