MBTA awards commuter rail bid to MBCR

Article Abstract:

The Massachusetts Bay Commuter Railroad Co. (MBCR) was awarded a $1 billion contract for 5 years by the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority for commuter rail services. The contract will be taken over from the United States National Railroad Passenger Corp. (Amtrak) by MBCR on July 1, 2003.

Light rail postponed in Grand Canyon

Article Abstract:

The proposed light rail transit in Arizona's Grand Canyon National Park was put on hold by Congress and a mass transit alternative was considered. Lea and Elliot, David Evans and Associates, Overland Partners were contacted to study alternative transits.

Light rail Renaissance

Article Abstract:

A review of the new light rail transit system being built in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The Port Authority is expanding the existing system which spans 25.2 miles and transports 27,000 riders daily.
