Let there be light

Article Abstract:

Searchlights are primarily used for man overboard situations but they can be used for a variety of functions. These include illuminating areas of the shipdeck, lighting up jetties, as a deterrent to would-be pirates and as a guide to a pilot boat. In addition, searchlights are useful when a ship is loading up on provisions. Three factors should be considered when buying searchlights. These are spot/flood coverage, brightness of the lights and pan/tilt angles.
