New anchor handler set to take the strain

Article Abstract:

A new type of anchor handling tug supply (AHTS) vessel designed by a Norwegian company, ERAM, based on Alesund on the west coast of Norway and founded by the Even Remoy aims to develop a 'full blooded' diesel electric anchor handler. ERAM describes this design as a True Multi-purpose Vessel (TMPV), which is a part of a portfolio that includes Platform Support Vessels (PSVs), and multi-purpose Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV).

New Mitsubishi low-speed marine diesel

Article Abstract:

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. (MHI) and Wartsila Switzerland Ltd. have jointly developed a new low-speed marine diesel engine, UEC50LSE, mainly targeted for installation in ships. The new UEC50LSE diesel engine provides 15% higher output than conventional engines of similar size. MHI and Wartsila have signed a new agreement for further cooperation in two-stroke diesel engines production.

Ageing reefer fleets ripe for renewal

Article Abstract:

Pure reefer ship tonnage is declining due to the decrease in palletized perishable goods. New breed of multi purpose ships should be sought for with new building options. Ship builders are too busy building container ships, carriers and tankers to build reefers.
