No smoke from the OK coral

Article Abstract:

Princess Cruises' newest ship, the Coral Princess, is to arrive for service in Alaska in 5/03. The ship was delivered from Chantiers de l'Atlantique in 12/02. The ship complies with Alaskan air quality legislation with its combined diesel and gas turbine electric power generation plant, the first time such a system is being used in the industry.

The increased use of pre-fabricated cabin modules in ships's interiors is discussed. The advantages of lower costs and greater speed of construction and the contracts won by Kvaerner-Masa Pikkio Works and other prefabricators are examined.
