Owners flourish as yards suffer: shipping is now the second largest export earner in Denmark

It is estimated that Danish shipowners turned over around $6.73 billion in 1999. As of Oct 1999, shipowners had almost 80 new buildings worth almost $3.08 billion. However, Danish shipyards have declined.
