Steam makes way for dual-fuel electric

Article Abstract:

The details of a 154,000 m3 Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) carrier, named Provalys, which is being built by France-based Chantiers de l' Atlantique for delivering it to Gaz de France, in the second half of 2006, are presented. The new building is the largest LNG carrier in service equipped with dual-fuel engines and electric propulsion. The details of 50DF engines developed by Wartsila Corporation, which also have same benefits in terms of fuel efficiency and environmental impact, are also presented.

Transom stern research improves fuel efficiency
