The impact of ship emissions on climate

Article Abstract:

Emissions such as CO2, NOx, SOx, Co and hydrocarbons from international shipping affect the chemical composition of atmosphere and the climate in several ways. Several emissions inventories have been established to measure these emissions. In order to protect the atmosphere, the Maritime Environmental Protection Committee of the International Maritime Organization responsible for international regulations of pollutions from ships has provided international limits for NOx, Co2, etc. A detailed research in this area will help policy makers to develop appropriate strategies.
