The partnerships between transit agencies and local police in Wilmington, Del., and Snohomish County, Wash., to provide safety and security for passengers and employees are analyzed. The joint venture seeks to control public nuisance and vandalism like loitering, public drunkenness, bawdiness and pan handling.

Sheriff's volunteers patrol transit buses in Louisville

Article Abstract:

The voluntary services of Jefferson County Sheriff's Community Support and Voluntary Board and Ride Program to bring about order on many Transit Authority of River City (TARC) buses are discussed. The program made travel on TARC buses safer and more pleasant for the operators and passengers alike.
