Article Abstract:

The Property Misdescriptions Act 1991 applies to estate agents and property developers and concerns false or misleading description of property offered for sale. Defendants will have to prove they acted with due diligence and took all reasonable steps to ensure the accuracy of the information. The Smoke Detectors Act 1991 makes the installation of smoke detectors compulsory in all new buildings. It will not be brought into force as it has been superseded by the 1992 Building Regulations.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) is probably going to resume lending to Brazil. The IMF is pleased with Brazil's economic adjustment program. A new wage law will limit automatic wage indexing to inflation. Volkswagen will begin a four year investment program in Brazil. These three activities should be good news to the country's foreign creditors.
