British Sports Association for the Disabled

Article Abstract:

The British Sports Association for the Disabled was established in 1961 to promote sporting opportunities for disabled people. Individual membership exceeded 50,000 in 1992. The association is financed through a Sports Council grant and sponsorship. It established the Annual National Multi-Disabled Games in 1963 and the Multi-Disabled World Games in 1974. It has developed a Disability Awareness Training Pack for the leisure industry.

DNH going for gold. (lottery funds go to potential sports stars)

Article Abstract:

Revenue from the National Lottery will be used by Sports and Arts Councils to give financial backing to sports stars with extra coaching. It will also help participants in the Olympics, and offer long term financial help for struggling theatres. Virginia Bottomley believes that the grants will help potential stars realise their full ability.

Children are not using their sports opportunities

Article Abstract:

The results of a study carried out by the Nestle Family Monitor and the Youth Sports Trust indicate that adults think that more time should be spent on physical education in school, as children are not active enough.
