Article Abstract:

The use of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) is being encouraged by the Lord Chancellor of the UK to prevent leisure developers from becoming involved in lengthy and costly litigation with contractors. Disputes often arise over completion times and tasks, as well as repair responsibility after completion has taken place. ADR provides both parties with a flexible yet formal process of arbitration in order to resolve any disputes. An impartial mediator will seek to negotiate an agreeable settlement and ensure that the agreement is adhered to by both sides.
