New dimensions

Article Abstract:

The leisure industry is enjoying substantial growth as ordinary people have more disposable income. However, it is also facing challenges as demographic changes lead to a decline in the number of young people, a rise in the number of older people and a decrease in the average family size. Leisure operators will have to address these challenges, as well as ensuring that they meet increasingly sophisticated customer demands in areas such as transport, security and technological improvements.

Future gazing

Article Abstract:

The real threat to the British way of leisure is not the millenium but increasing globalisation. The line between work and leisure has become less distinct and leisurely leisure is becoming a thing of the past. In tomorrow's world, leisure developments to watch for are a trend towards intensity of experience and increasing conflict between work and leisure.
