County-level tourism impact assessment: a case study in Beaufort County, South Carolina

Article Abstract:

The coastal counties of South Carolina are going through rapid population increase and economic growth due to heightened activities in the tourist industry. To fully comprehend the impact of the tourist industry on these counties by segmenting benefits of chosen tourism development in Beaufort County, SC, the Tourism Development Simulation Model (TDSM) was used. For Beaufort County, it is shown that tourism accounts for 46.8% of total county sales. Thus, it is indicated that tourism should be treated as an integral component in long-term development efforts for Beaufort County, SC.

Tourism intensity as a function of accomodations

Article Abstract:

Studies conducted on tourism establishments in several South Carolina coastal counties have determined the relationship between occupancy rates and lodging resources. Areas which rely heavily on tourism as a source of income should consider the importance of knowing the preferences of tourists with regards to destinations in order to maintain a balance between needed resources and resources allocation.

The effect of tourism services on travelers' quality of life

A study aims to develop a model to explain the effects of tourism services on the quality of life (QOL) of the travelers. The results conclude that satisfaction of the traveler is very vital for the tourism sector to ensure further growth.
