Competing for tourism

Article Abstract:

The UK government's new report on tourism policy, entitled 'Competing with the Best,' states that the Department of National Heritage (DNH) aims to cooperate with the tourist industry to assess changes required to ensure that the UK regains its share of the world tourism market. However, there are no signs that funding will be restored to the ETB, that environmental policies will be extended or that other issues restricting tourist development will be addressed. Some observers are now starting to question the DNH's commitment to attracting tourists to the UK.
