Giles Clarke

Giles Clarke, head of Natural History Museum exhibitions and education in London, UK, believes that museums should keep up with changing technologies to provide entertaining educational systems for visitors. Clarke is enthusiastic about his role at the museum. He is in charge of numerous exhibitions including the twelve million pounds sterling Earth Galleries exhibition which uses interactive computer systems to demonstrate interesting information about a number of subjects including meteorites and minerals.

All that jazz

Article Abstract:

An economically disadvantaged area of San Francisco is being regenerated using its jazz heritage as a central theme. The Fillmore district of San Francisco is the subject of a $30 million redevelopment plan which includes a key feature, The Blue Note, a jazz club and cinema complex set to open in 2001. The San Francisco Redevelopment Agency is managing the restoration of the area and has invested $5 million in new walkways, plaza areas and better lighting.

The travel show

Article Abstract:

Transperience is a new theme park in Bradford, UK. The park is based on the theme of public transport and it was developed by the West Yorkshire Transport Trust at a cost of 11.5 million pounds sterling. Features include a variety of buses and trams, interactive exhibitions, and multi-media presentations. The park took eight months to develop on the site of an old munitions factory, and it has created around 100 jobs.
