Into the garden

Article Abstract:

Biddulph Grange Garden opened by the National Trust in 1991 is a fine example of Victorian horticulture which has been completely restored, with the only bad point being a lack of catering facilities. In comparison Wisley Garden operated by the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) for horticultural research provides a huge variety of plant species and attracts the serious gardener. The Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew offers plants from all over the globe in 300 acres of parkland but the catering facilities are very poor as is parking and signposting.

Oceanopolis

Article Abstract:

Oceanoplis, known as 'the window on the sea' opened on Jun 21 1990. It was developed to stimulate the economy of Brest, France through tourism. Sea life is emphasised although navigation and ocean safety and research are also included. Exhibits and interactive displays are attractive. However, the research and educational function is presented in a less user-friendly way than the American models on which it was based.
