Miami sets its sites on Spaniards

Article Abstract:

The Greater Miami Convention and Visitors' Bureau is seeking to increase the number of Spanish visitors to Miami, FL. Spanish tourists in Florida number well below those from other European countries and Spain is seen as a market with potential. It is felt that Miami has something special to offer in that Spanish is widely understood due to the large Cuban element in its population. American Airlines operates a popular daily flight from Madrid but it is not known how many people use Miami as a gateway to other areas.

Stability is the key for the region

Article Abstract:

The Egyptian travel industry is trying to recover from a fall in demand by holiday makers, after the massacre of travellers in Luxor in 1997. The Egyptian government has introduced extra security measures at most of the country's main tourist attractions, although tourist levels have only just returned to pre-Luxor massacre visitor levels by the end of 1998. The country is also benefiting from a renewed interest in Biblical sites due to the approaching milliennium.
