1991: a year of decline

Article Abstract:

International tourism declined in 1991. War, economic recession and unstable exchange rates may be the cause. International tourism has experienced high growth since 1950. However, UK incoming tourists fell by 7.5 per cent in 1991 compared with 1990. Most visitors to Britain come from Europe or the US although a 20 per cent per annum increase in Japanese visitors is anticipated by 2000.
