Raising the quality of life with leisure

Article Abstract:

Local authorities can play a key role in allowing the community to help itself, according to the 1996 'Quality of Life Survey' by Alpha Research. In areas where local authorities provide high quality leisure facilities, local residents tend to have a more positive attitude towards their surroundings and become more involved in community, church and voluntary projects. In contrast, in areas where there is poor leisure provision, residents can have a very low level of loyalty towards their community.
