Article Abstract:

Orlando, FL-based entertainment conglomerate Hard Rock Cafe International Inc is being sued by two former employees at its Toronto, Canada, restaurant for terminating them in what they believed to be in a reckless and high-handed manner. Plaintiffs Lisa McLain and Samantha Anderson, both servers at Hard Rock Cafe Canada Inc's Yonge Street outlet in downtown Toronto, also claimed in their separate suit that the chain would not grant them severance or termination pay.

More restaurant and food service companies are establishing crisis management programs to deal with problems more effectively and avoid financial ruin. These problems are often related to the publicity surrounding cases that include foodborne illness, crime, a hostile takeover attempt and other health and safety issues. Companies that do fall into such situations must take immediate and open action to correct the problem and rebuild their reputation.
