The time of day

Article Abstract:

Canadian restaurants are adapting to the changing dining habits of people caused by the anytime/anywhere flexibility emanating from global technology. Restaurants can no longer rely on the dayparts traditionally regarded as mealtimes. Instead, restaurateurs have to stretch or subdivide breakfast, lunch and dinner to cope with the shifting time-squeezed customers' requirements. Therefore, Canadian restaurants are introducing new dayparts to their operations while still promoting dayparts that are no longer as profitable as others.

Soft on people hard on results

Article Abstract:

Kelsey's International Inc., based in Oakville, Ontario, celebrates its 20th anniversary with continuous focus on its 'work hard, play hard' outlook. The C$140-million company is bound to become the top casual dining chain in Canada, following such growth strategies that turned it to a public company and the hiring of Nils Kravis as president. With the entry of Kravis into the corporation, Montana's Cookhouse Saloon concept was created and Kelsey's moved to purchase the development rights for Outback Steakhouses in Canada. The chain operates more than 80 branches in three concepts in Canada.
