The outer limits

Article Abstract:

Theme park developers often look to peripheral attractions to prolong the stay of visitors and increase the amount of money spent. The building of hotels and waterparks encourages visitors to look upon the park as a holiday resort, and often retail outlets and entertainment complexes are built to. Disney first used the concept in Florida by purchasing 27,000 acreas of land for the original park, enabling developments such as EPCOT and hotels to be built at a later date. European parks are developing the idea and many are building themed hotels and entertainment facilities.
