Wonderful world

Article Abstract:

A report by Chessington World of Adventures, UK theme park, on the UK theme park market, indicates that there is increasing interest in the sector. Some people have more leisure time in the UK because they cannot afford overseas holidays, and marketing campaigns and media coverage have had an impact. The industry needs to develop brand identities, improve quality, introduce new experiences and increase custom. Among investments in the industry in 1996 are the inauguration of Legoland Windsor, a hotel at Alton Towers and, at Thorpe Park, a new dark ride.

Shakespeare's Globe: the performances are great, the theatre is magnificent, but the basic facilities are wanting at London's tribute to Shakespeare

Article Abstract:

Shakespeare's Globe on London's Bankside has been reconstructed, although it still requires 6.5 million pounds sterling for new exhibition, hospitality and educational facilities. Ticket prices range from 5 pounds sterling to 20 pound sterling. A visit to the theatre is described. The toilet provisions were inadequate and the Globe Cafe, Restaurant or Balcony Room were not open. The building's circular shape creates an intimate atmosphere, despite its 1,500 capacity, and the performance was enjoyable.
