A nation of courthouses
Article Abstract:
The US has more than 3,000 historic county courthouses that offer the visitor beautiful art and architecture. Many of these are in the Midwest, such as the court in De Kalb County, IL. Several of these are illustrated and described, and a history of the role of the county courthouse is given.

Vermont
Article Abstract:
A man who lives in Vermont thinks that part of the reason why the state is so popular in the late 20th century is because it has remained relatively rural. Since the state was poor, old buildings were allowed to stand instead of being torn down. There are many microclimates in Vermont.
