Article Abstract:

A woman coming from a mixed culture of black and white relates the difference between living in Chicago, IL and Washington DC. Racial segregation and racism is not as evident in DC as it is in Chicago. But the cosmopolitan nature of Washington hides a discrimination of another nature, that of economic stature.

Maxie Robinson, Jr, was the first African-American anchorman in the world of television that is dominated by whites. AIDS-stricken Max, who became a popular anchorman in the 1970s, came home to Washington to prepare for his death.
