Cezanne's big show

Article Abstract:

Paul Cezanne, who is considered as the father of modern art started painting at an early age but was not successful in selling a single painting while in Paris. Philip Conisbee, senior curator of European paintings at the National Gallery of Art in Washington plans to exhibit Paul Cezanne's paintings in 2006 to mark the 100th anniversary of Cezanne's death.

About a tenth of Albert Barnes' collection will be shown in an exhibit at the National Gallery from May to August of 1993. A chemist-turned-art collector and art gallery owner, Barnes died in 1951.
