Europe's forests: green and getting greener

Article Abstract:

Europe's forests are regularly expanding due to preservation efforts of timber companies, environmentalists and government officials of European Union countries. Although some areas in the Czech Republic, Eastern Germany and Poland are considered pollution hot-spots, around 36% of non-Russian Europe is covered with forests. Through natural regeneration or replanting, forest development in the continent is brisk. Some countries such as Germany and Sweden have also begun observing sustainable forest development to strike a balance between the needs of forests and the needs of the society.
