Article Abstract:

A photographer recalls a photo-hunting trip spent with a hunter of the Inupiat tribe. The hunter showed no reluctance in killing a large sow grizzly despite the presence of three of her cubs. The Inupiats traditionally hunt for food and would not hesitate to bring down fat game.

Giants in jeopardy: Alaska's polar bears face threat of a changing climate

The sea ice in Alaska is shrinking and could pose a major threat to the polar bears that are best adapted for life on the ice. Some scientists believe that humans are contributing to the global-warming trend that is shrinking the polar bear's habitat.
