Article Abstract:

The FTC made changes which resulted in a substantively and procedurally more effective remedy process with workable consent agreements. Consent agreements are preferable to injunctive remedies where the transactions at issue contain positive economic elements and are amenable to negotiation and removal of anticompetitive elements. Divestitures are the traditional and still viable means the FTC has used to accomplish positive results.

If Bob Dole wins the election, the bond market would probably slump and the stock market would likely go up. A Dole victory combined with a Republican-led Congress would cause corporate profits to rise due to less regulation, but would make the economy uncertain because of Dole's unfunded tax cuts.
